Arming people with information is the best way to help them help themselves. Sarah Bush Lincoln is offering a free program, New Face of Heart Disease, focusing this event on diabetes and how to manage it.
The event, set for 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education on the north side of Sarah Bush Lincoln. The program is free and includes a light dinner.
Participants can learn from a panel of experts, including Certified Diabetic Educators Cindy Foster, RD, and Paula Enstrom, RN, Family Practitioner Robert Biggs, MD also of the Advanced Wound Center, and Ophthalmologist Ryan Pine, MD. This is an interactive program and participants are encouraged to bring questions.
Foster said, “People with diabetes can live a long and active life, but they must monitor their blood sugar, be selective about their food choices and have physical activity. Our goal is to help people get on track and stay on tract so managing their diabetes is not a life-long struggle.”
